! ! ! Hi Hi Hi ! ! !
Not too much going on here since yesterday... just wanted to post some pictures from Val's birthday.

Here is
Val's birthday morning. It is our tradition the night before to decorate the kitchen
and the table after the child has gone to bed (or we send her to bed,
in the case of the older girls-- otherwise I'd be up till real late).
We usually get donuts but Valerie wanted us to make chocolate chip pancakes. They came out really yummy!!!! Then we open presents.

Here is the
"lovely" cake Valerie and I made and decorated. We got that
frosting in a can that you put the tip on and squirt it out. It
was difficult to be steady with, as you will notice by the "B" in
Birthday!

These are a friend of mine's children and my kids. My friend's kids are the ones on the ends and the one in the back in the middle. Mine, obviously, are the other 4.
We all went to Disneyland on Val's birthday (we all have passes).
HOWEVER - I think 1/2 of southern California was there, too!!
All's we could figure was that it was the first nice day after the
horrible rain we had for days on end. We were there about 4 1/2
hours and only went on 4 rides (usually during Mon - Thur, it's never
more than a 5 minute wait for a ride!). So I invited them over
for Pizza and cake! And then the girls played a game. It
was a quiet evening, but relaxing and fun.Hope you all are having a good week. Just got finished reading my
subscriptions and am finding out that the sick season is still upon
us. Praying for you all!

Hello everyone!
Things here are going good. My stomach is feeling much, much
better. I seem to be sleeping better. Praise God!!!!
I think, though, that I might be coming down with a cold. Oh well. I'm praising God it's not the flu!!!
Our Pastor taught on Gospel. He was saying how the typical
birthday card usually says something to the effect of getting what you
deserve. And how that would be the last thing he would ever want
to wish on someone in light of Rom 6:23 - for the wages of sin is
death....
We deserve death... we get what we don't deserve: eternal life.
Have a wonderful Sunday basking in the presense of our gracious and merciful Lord.

Hello all and happy Sunday!!
I am feeling much better... I went to
the doctor on Friday and I have an inflammation of my stomach lining,
treatable with a prescription acid reducer for 6 weeks. The doc
said that it would have lead to an ulcer if I had ignored it. I
popped my first pill and within a half hour I was able to go out for
lunch!!! God is goooood...
And more on God being goooood....
Friday we received a suicide email from a friend. Don't want to
go into to many details here.... he had gotten on a bus to San
Francisco to do the deed there (we're assuming to jump from the Golden
Gate Bridge). My youngest had overhead some talk about it and was
just crying horribly. So I sat down to pray with her and told her
that even though we do not know where he is, God see him and God
knows. So we prayed that God would protect him and the police
would find him. We got a call at 1:30 am Saturday morning
saying that they did indeed find him and he had been admitted into the
hospital up there. Praise be to GOD!!!! This was such an
encouragement to Grace to see that God can do ALL things!!! Grace
told me she had the best dream in the world last night that she got to
see him again... And this morning that will become a reality as we
just heard that he is on his way home and we will probably see him
tomorrow. God is good!!!
And then yesterday I had a little adventure. We had a home school
meeting (every 3rd Saturday of the month at 8am) that I needed to go to
- but the weather was horrible yesterday: rain, hail, thunder and
lightening! The storm had just past by us when it was time to
leave, but it was headed in the direction I needed to go. So
myself and two of my kids and one of their friends (whose mom was at
the meeting) packed up to go.
As we were driving over there we passed into the storm again. It
was POURING!!! I had my windshield wipers on high and I could barely
see out! There weren't a lot of cars around, though, as it was
7:30 on a Saturday morning. I got off my exit from the freeway
and I hit this huge puddle (more like a lake) -- it didn't look as big
as it was. My car started acting funny, but I drove on for about
a mile -- then the car died. It was raining so hard that I
couldn't hear if my car was turning over when I tried to start it!!!!
It died in the lane that's not next to the curb, so I was a bit panicked
with the kids in the car.
I
called my friend at the meeting and asked her to come get the kids and
when I hung up, the storm like all of a sudden just stopped, and this
parametric fire truck pulled up, asks me what's wrong and then and they
pushed me off the road to the shoulder. My daughter says, "Wow they're
nice -- AND strong!!!" and her friend chimes in
"...and CUTE!!!" teehee...
So my friend comes and picks the kids up and I wait for AAA.
About a half hour later, AAA arrives. So I tell him that my car
died, probably because of the puddle I went through and that now the
battery is dead, but if we could jump it, it would probably start
now. He says -- GET THIS -- "I just want to be honest with you.
This is my very first day and my very first call, and to tell you the
truth I'm not sure how to jump the car..." and something, I thought he
said, about not having jumper cables.
NOW I'm thinking!!!
What the
heck??? Isn't this like AAA 101 basics -- jumping a car??
hahaha... So I say that I have jumper cables, so let's just hook
it up. He says that he's not sure how to...
and that he'd probably have to block traffic to do it. I'm like
-- yEah (more like Duh!)... So we hook it up and when I tried to turn
it over, it would die again. So I finally got out of the
car and told him to try.
After a few tries he gets out of the car and asks me where I want to
tow it to. I told him again, that I thought if the battery just
gets enough juice it would do it and asked him to try once more.
At this point I look down on the cement and it was a piece of the
sidewalk that has been redone and people have written in it. And
there, right above my toes, it says, "GOD LOVE YOU!" HA!!!! I
started to pray and when he went to try again, it started right up!!
PTL!!!! Isn't wonderful that no matter how little a thing, God takes
care of it and how in tiny ways He lets you know He is there in the
midst of it. I could have stopped anywhere along that sidewalk --
but exactly right there is where God had me stop -- right there where
He reminded me that he cares.
Well, that's all for now.

I'm just preparing you for my whining...
I don't feel good!!!
... Since
Tuesday morning I have had this pain in my upper abdomen -- feels like
someone is punching me every so often right where the ribs meet.
It seems to be worse when my stomach is empty -- seems only to feel
better after I eat bread or tortillas. The bummer part is that it
has kept me up for the past two nights and I'm so totally exhausted
today. The only way to relieve the pain at night is to get up and
eat. I remember having similiar symptoms about 5 days post every
chemo treatment -- then it was really bad heartburn because the chemo
attacks all fast growing cells and you entire gastointestinal track is
fast growing cells. But now what could it be ... I mean it came
out of the blue... no pain on Monday - a fair amount of it on
Tuesday... and it isn't going away. I have tried some mylanta but it barely helps. I'm
afraid to eat anything other than bread for fear of stomach upset AND I
have a headache -- I'm afraid to take some tylenol or advil... I
am going to go tonight and pick up some pepcidAC and see if that
helps. If not, I'll got to the doctor tomorrow.
My week has been slow because of it,
so there wasn't much to blog about. BUT -- I did find a really
good orthodontist today and he is on our insurance!! That will save us
about $1800. ... one down and three to go! Yikes!

Hey -- Here's a late Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!!
Went to my oncologist today. The CT scan I took in early January
is all clear. However, there is a cyst on my kidney. I
guess it was there last year as well. I asked if I should be
concerned about it -- and he replied "we'll keep an eye on it"... Don't
you just love answers like that-- a simple yes or no would have been
much better. I looked it up when I got home and found that it
shouldn't be any big deal unless 1) it starts to grow or 2) I get more
of them. Either way, not concerning at this point.Other than that, today was a quiet day. Schooling in the morning,
dr in the afternoon -- dinner from Panda (we all love panda), watched
24 (we watched it early at 6pm off of the eastern feed), we all opened
valentines to each other and then watched an older movie
"Contact". Now I'm ready for bed, but wanted to just shoot of a
quick Hi
and let you know how my day went. Love to you all,

!! TGIF !!
Do I hear an "Amen"???This has been a long, long week. I have not felt too well, which, as you know, makes a long week even longer.
I chose a new dentist on our plan. I refuse to go back to the
other one after what he did to Julie. So we went yesterday and I
absolutely love the whole office! Everyone was so
nice. Julie will have the work done on her tooth next week.Elizabeth is feeling better... YEA!!! I can't remember the last time she was as sick as she was this last week.
My hubby went in for his treatment of IVIG this afternoon. I'm
really hoping it will make him feel better as he has been so worn down
and tired. The treatments do not seem to be making a difference
-- which is odd because before when he was having them it made a big
difference. I'm sad that he's not seeming to get better. My children were fighting as I wrote. One was chasing the other
around the house to see what she had in a cup. She ran into the
bathroom with it and held the door shut, but when she wanted to go out,
the other held the door closed so she couldn't. So then the other
ran into the garage to avoid retaliation and the one with the cup
locked the garage door. When she was finally let out it got
physical... over a cup of tiny tomatoes!!!! Control issues
here.... wonder where that comes from??!!! Don't you just love
rainy days....Another pic from the archives:

This was taken a few years ago in the summer of 2000 in our
backyard. The girls' cousins had come to visit from Washington
(the ones we went to visit this Thanksgiving). In the back ground
is my sister-in-law, Leslie, and Gracie (3).In the picture going left to right is Val (7), Emily (10), Julie (5), Alison (12) and Elizabeth (9).
This one was taken two years ago. Elizabeth had just learned to do a back flip into the pool.

I guess I'm longing for warmer days and carefree summer days....
Oh and one more thing. Today is my mom's birthday!
Happy Birthday, Mom

Peace out!

Had
a good day today. We have passes to Disneyland and it was one of
my friend's daughter's birthday today, so a bunch of us went. It
was a lot of fun, although I was not feeling really good. I
was doing pretty good until I went on Thunder Mountain Railroad, which
is a roller coaster type ride (the one that guy died on last year...)
-- anyways, it a pretty tame ride, but it felt like my brain was
bashing into the side of my skull every turn we made. I
kind of have this sick headache thing going. Oh well, hopefully
tomorrow I will be better. My oldest, Elizabeth, however, is not doing so great. She's had
the flu (the influenza type) since Thursday and she's not getting any
better. Now she has a real bad earache, so I think if she's not
doing any better in the morning I run her over to prompt
care. I hate to jump the gun on taking my kids to the
doctor -- especially with the flu -- as it usually takes 6 days to even
start feeling better. Yet, I hate for her to be suffering with a
secondary infection any longer than she'd have to...Here's a picture from the archives.

This is Elizabeth and I, July of 1992. It was taken about a week after she got out of the hospital.
My husband and I took a trip to Hawaii and left Elizabeth with my
sister-in-law, Debbie. Before we left she was having some
bruising on her legs and such, but we figured for a 15 month old that
recently learned to walk and run, it wasn't very abnormal.Near the end of our trip, Debbie called to say that Elizabeth was
getting blood blisters from her pampers around the waist and that she
dropped a toy mirror on her eyebrow while she was being changed and it
turned into the big bruise a few minutes later.Debbie took her to Choc Hospital where she was admitted for suspected
leukemia. Steve and I flew home on a red-eye to get there the
next morning for her spinal tap. Thankfully, it turned out not to
be -- it was something called ITP which are the initials to something
that mean that her platlet count was low for some unknown reason (which
means you bleed really easy). It should be above 225,000 and she
was down to 6000!!!! They treated her for a few days then we were
free to go -- scary, though...At home, we had a few pictures left from our the underwater disposable
camera we had in Hawaii -- so we took some picture of us in the pool
with her.Well -- off to bed I go.
Nigthie-night!

I
dislike orange... Don't know why -- it kind of is an irritating
color. Yet, I love it when it's mixed with other colors, like yellow, red, green, and blue. I love it, too, in the trees in fall colors! Just a random thought for you....Last night was fun. We have a monthly bunco group and last night
was our night. Didn't win any money this time, but had a blast
all the same.I've started working on our business books reconciling last year for
taxes. I usually don't do it until Easter vacation, but thought
I'd get a jump on it this year. I completed Jan and Feb so far...Here's a funny or two -- one of my girls was asking me the other day
what a 'slope' was. So I told her that it was the face of the
hill that goes down. She said - Oh, so the horse is going down
the hill. I said -- what horse? She said the one in Jingle
Bells -- you know "One horse sloping sleigh".... It's funny how
you hear things... one of my other daughter when she was younger said
-- what does it mean in that song that God is in three purses...
ahahahaaahhh -- you know "God in three persons"... How confusing is
that for a 4 year old to be picturing God in three purses....
hahahahhaaa...Well have a great weekend!!!
