Did I mention these are my two favorite colors... pink and yellow -- and yes, the darker, brighter side of pink
Well I tackled the little girls room yesterday. I should have
taken a "before" picture so you would be so proud of my after.
And I can't find the camera this morning to post a picture of the
after. But once I do I'll post it.
Basically, for those of you who haven't seen their room, on the left as
you enter, they have bunk beds (so you are looking at the feet of them
when you enter). Then on the window wall (which you are looking at when
you enter) there were 3-yard wide drawer things two of which had doll
house stuff in them, and one that had babydoll stuff in it - then
a large doll house. On the wall to the right I had put
up 4-8ft long shelves on which all of their toys resided (because at
one point I had all the girls in one room and this room was the play
room). Under it were boxes stacked with dress up clothes and
fashion pollys and a baby station (a plastic kiddie one - with a little
highchair, sink, and crib). Then the rest of the wall under the
end of the shelves then poking out was a 9 drawer dresser. The
remaining wall is a closet, with mirrored doors, and a 4 drawer dresser
with a hutch on top (which was so big it extended into closet area a
bit). There is also a book shelf at the end of the bunk bed when
you first come in.
They inherited from the big girls this container stand thingie and that
4 drawer dresser with the hutch - this is recent - since the big girls
just redid their room last week.
So, here's the main changes. I took off the closet doors and made
one whole part of it a babydoll area. I put in the baby
station and all their babydoll stuff. Grace helped with this and
I don't think she's left that area since.
Then I removed one of the 4 shelves completely. Then I sawed (or should
I say my husband did) almost a yard off of the bottom one so that I
could put the hutch on the 9 drawer dresser. Since now they
didn't have any mirror in their bedroom, I put one of the closet doors
behind the dresser - so it looks like a mirror hanging on the wall. I
moved all the doll house stuff to under the shelves, moved the dress-up
stuff into the closet, moved the 4 drawer dresser under the window and
the container stand thingie to the foot of their bed.
So now, on the top shelf I still have baby toys (which I have no where
else to put right now), but now added all four girls' beanie
babies. The next shelf down has all the little girls toys
in different containers with lids and different houses (like hello
kitty and Polly), and the last shelf has the big box of polly stuff,
all the games and the "beauty" box (play stuff like - rings,
necklesses, etc).
I also moved all of their clothes into the 9 drawer dresser. They
were in the 2 drawers under the bed, but I like it more now because
their drawers are sorted shirts, pants, ect. instead of everything in
one drawer. I put the nighties in one of the drawers under the
bed and the other is a shoe drawer. I moved from the 9 drawer
dresser all the video tapes and put them into the 4 drawer
dresser (the 9 drawer dresser had all the kids' video tapes and
two shoe drawers). I write this because it's the unseen
effort. You wouldn't know that I spent an hour sorting and doing
that unless I told you.
I still have some sorting to do today -- but I'm so glad I got it all figured out and had the energy to do it.
----------------
Today our homeschool group is going to a convalescent home for a meet
and greet - which mainly we sing some song and the kids play different
instruments and then we greet the residents.
And then tonight is AWANA's and I think Steve and I and Elizabeth are
going to go see Finding Neverland, if I can get my neighbor to pick the
girls up from AWANA's (their kids go too) and keep them for a bit.
Well, that's about it!! Not much else going on. Have a good day!
