  • Hello my friends!

You know, I am finding that having xanga friends is very unique in the
sense that there never is, well, at least in my case, a reason to get
upset at these people (you people) or for you all to get upset with
me.   This is very unlike real face to face life where we end
up upsetting each other eventually.  It’s not like that in
    xangaville. I
can feel love from people I’ve never even meet but are tied to because
we belong to the same universal body of Christ.  It’s interesting.  I
care for you all.  I pray for you all.  I’m interested in what is
    happening in your lives.
    I
guess someone could say something to me that would be hurtful (or via
versa), but our collective God-pursuing goal is to encourage one
another.  It’s easier to reflect the life of Christ or it seems
so. And although I’m sure that this is also our goal face to face, that
is, to encourage one another in our thoughts, deeds and words — we
often do not have the choice to “close the window down” when we are
upset.  Real life happens and we respond in real time.

There are certain relationship I struggle with.  Here too my goal
may start out to be one of encouraging the other person, but I often
find a lack of grace (or rather an abundance of selfishness) that makes
me critical, judgmental and impatient of the other person.  Why
doesn’t that happen in xangaville?   Probably because I
choose who I want to communicate with based upon their site and their
blogs.   I probably choose those that are more like me or
those that struggle with the same things I do.  Very few people in
realsville are of my choosing.  It’s my unsaved neighbors or
unsaved world around me that I have to deal with on a day to day basis
as well as those Christian acquaintances that I don’t always have the
choice of not being around — those people that rub me the wrong way or
    challenge me.

I don’t know why I’m all of sudden reflecting on this.  Nothing
has happened this week that would expose to a greater extent the
difference between realsville and xangaville.  But I trust that
God want me to see something here.   Something important that
I’m not to miss. I’m sure it has something to do with how I react to
those around me and how those around me respond to me.  Something
about the “xanga” me and the “real life” me.  Not that there is
some vast difference between the two — more like a subtle nudge that I
should respond more like I do on xanga to people and their
    situations.

I think it may have to do with my impatience with others — which you
can sometimes get in long term relationships when nothing changes –
but there is a difference — my xangaville friends know that I am would
not (at least I hope you know) attack you — I might point out
something I see as it relates to God – but if I do that to you or you
do it to me, at least on my side, there isn’t that self-defense wall
that comes shooting up.  I know you have my best interest at heart
when you write.  But in realsville that sometimes gets all blurred
and self-defense is how we respond sometimes (or sometimes all the time
    depending upon the person).

Hmmm…. it’s good to reflect on things like this.  Yet, I sure it
doesn’t all make sense to you what’s going on in my head!

Just a random thought, yet purposeful in God’s eyes.
    ~me

  • :heart-2: Well it sure is something we all can take to hard
and reflect on in our own personal lives. Its true that even
though I think I’m the same here as well in cyberland well it
does give me somrthung to study on. Hummm.

    Have a great weekend Di!

  • hey there!!! glad to hear from you! i have been majorly busy for the past month or so. just enuf time to post something cute for you guys. :p your post was great today. i’ve kinda been feeling this way to and i agree with you 100%. we get to choose who we want to communicate with in the xanga world…in real life we have to work with ppl who are negative all of the time, who are non-christians, or just people that aren’t that great to be around. they put us (or at least it does me) in a bad mood. i know i shouldn’t let them get to me but i do. anywhos, your post hit it on the nail! made complete sense to lil ole me! :) i’m gonna try to get back in gear with my posting. hopefully soon! ttul!

  • I like your thoughts today!  It’s odd how a lot of people use xanga to provoke and attack each other.  I just don’t get that.  On the blogrings I’m on, everyone is friendly and easy to get along with.  Could it be God???

  •  :banana:Hey darlin!!! I agree with you it is a total turn around in the real world than it is in here. there is a  :bombpow:around every corner it seems. But as long as we keep :jesus: :heartcross: :bible: FIRST then we :grouphug: will all be ok at the end or should I say the beginning :rainbow:  :)

:tilt:     :bouncy:

can you tell I like your smiley’s

  • Thanks for asking how I am.  I am doing pretty good.  My energy level is back up and I am getting things done around here once again.

One other insight in regards to your blog today.  You like us cuz you don’t have to live with us or around us too!   Plus we do get to pick our friends on here.  But I am telling you, you don’t REALLY know someone till you live w/ them, then you hope they will still love you!   :jaw-dropping:

    Have a blessed evening!  Sheila

  • I think I have to agree with your
post, we all have the same thing in
    common, “God”, he always makes
for good conversation, and I just
don’t think you can go wrong when
in most cases, he is what our
conversations are about, I love it.
    Thanks for the comment, and
    the great post.

  • Hi Diane!! Yes, our trip in Aug. was to check out the ministry up there in AK and see if that is truly where God is calling our family. We feel led that way, but it is a scarey committment to actually make!! But we know God will take care of everything if that is where He truly IS calling us!!  :goodjob: :heart-2:

Thanks for this post! What great thought provoking stuff here!!! I TOTALLY agree with you and have often felt/thought the same thing. Thanks for letting God use you to remind/speak to all of us!!!  :heart-2:  :iloveusign:
Hope you have a GREAT weekend friend!~!! :sunny: :heartbeat: :)
PS. Your smilies are GREAT!!!  :goodjob: :bouncy:

  • Hey!  It’s me.  I really enjoyed and could relate to your post.  Thank you for bringing it up.  It is easier to get along with people from afar, that is for sure, but I think that there is a beautiful purpose in it.  I love knowing that there is a relatively safe place to come and speak and be heard in the manner in which it was spoken.  It is wonderful to have met like-minded people.  I am glad to have met you.

    Have a great weekend.

    Karen

  • I have met so many wonderful women on here…I am learning from others too…I find it all pretty cool! I haven’t had any bad experiences on xanga…..I hope it continues that way! Hope you have a great wknd

  • I began internet friendships with Yahoo groups.  I’m very non-confrontational so internet friends are so much easier than IRL even when we’re talking about friendships.  IRL friends bring out the selfishness in me and who wants that.  <g>  Xanga friends are available when I want, I don’t have to give them my undivided attention and if I’m not interested in what they are talking about I don’t have to listen.  IRL I have to work around someone else’s schedule, need to give them 100% attention or at least attempt to and I have to listen even when they go on and on about something totally meaningless at least it is to me.  Yup, no doubt about it…IRL friend bring out my selfishness.  Spend time on Xanga to build me up or face IRL to point out my sin…

Thanks for stopping by my site…no I haven’t done much more cleaning but I have a plan.  <g>

  • I agree I’ve pretty much had all positive expirences you are right.. and it’s much easier than real life.  No up front confrontations and no rubbing people the wrong way too often.  I think too often when I’m on too much it’s been my escape from reality.

I do appreciate your encouragment and the fact that I’ve gotten to know you in this way!

  • I can relate to your post.  I found my Xanga friends to be so encouraging and give me such a lift.  I do so look forward to knowing what is going on in your lives … Yes, I do believe that we as Christians have a very special relationship.  I have an easier time sharing my thoughts in writing.  Perhaps that has something to do with how we feel about each other.  I can say things that are close to my heart.  I don’t feel as free when face to face with people in “real land”.

You have a wonderful week ahead.  I look forward to getting back to Florida and staying there!!

  •  :heartcross:hi  I like your site, it looks like you worked hard on it. :crash: I really liked what you said, I was my self just roaming around looking for people that wanna be friends and that are christians too. :bible:

     :jesus:God Bless You :jesus:

  • :laugh:I am what you call a true night blogger :hyper:
We are up alot around here. I think I am going through
peri menapause or at least thats what my mom says is the
    reason I’m not sleeping. :banghead:

Di I hope your weekend is good!

  •  :wave:Hello Di,
I was glad to hear from you,
It always puts a smile on my
face to see a comment from
you, Linda and I both are night
    owls, her husband works 2nd
so they are usually up late, my
    problem is the steroids they
have me on, I pull alot of all-
nighters, but it sure is peaceful
that time of the morning, everyone
else around here in bed, I call
it “My Time”. I am usually so
    busy with the grandkids during
the day I can’t get alot of the time
so I enjoy My Time, just me and
    all my xanga friends.
Hope you are having a wonderful
    weekend.

Love ya, Donna :heartbeat:

  •  :goodjob: I agree with you but I sure miss being able to see you and hug you … You make me smile, laugh, …

I am grateful for xanga because it allows those of us so very far away from friends, to feel like we’re sitting across a table from each other, sipping on our “drug of choice”.  I hope that I’m not one of those that rub you the wrong way.  I think I do that way more than I’m made aware of.   :banghead:  :duh: I love you and appreciate your love of our Lord and your sense of humor.  You are a kindred spirit… at least I think so!   :coolman:

  • I love the idea of the dvd photo albums – one for each year of life, or different seasons.  What a great idea, I want to work on that.

As xanga goes,  it is a safe place to be honest and creative and get encouragement from others who have experienced similar struggles.  And the phone doesn’t get tied up!  That is the best part.  I am really surprised how many Christian women I have found on xanga, and how encouraging they are.    I have also seen some really raunchy blogs, so it depends on where you look.

    maranatha!  dawn

  •   I love this little guy!  I agree with you!  I love my Xanga friends~you all always encourage me and make me feel great!  Thanks for visiting my site and for your kind words everytime you do.  Hope you have a great week.  :grouphug:
