Today we had a birthday party for Julie. Lots of fun — lots of running around.

Julie & Sammi
I had each girl decorate their own cupcake.
Here are the decorated cupcakes! Aren’t these girls creative!!!
These were the gift bags. Julie did an origami flower and stem and we glued them to each bag.
We played “How Well Do You Know Julie” – a multiple choice quiz. These were the two that got the lowest and highest scores, Kendall & Jessica.
Next we played a game similar to hot potato, only you hold each other’s hands in a circle and you move the hula hoop from person to person without unclasping hands!! Very ticky!!
If the music stops and you have the hula hoop around part of your body, you’re out!

I like this shot a lot! Julie out and Gracie in!!
My older girls went to a party recently where they were taught how to swing dance and then played another “hot potato” type game dancing. So we thought that would be fun to do at Julie’s party. First we taught the girls the basic steps. Then we split the group into two and gave 1/2 the girls a napkin to wear. Then we started the music and the girls paired up, a napkin girl to a non-napkin girl, dancing. Then I yell “SWITCH” and the they have to switch partners (can’t have the same partner two times in a row), again the non-napikin girls have to find a napkin girl to partner with. And one of the times I call “SWITCH” I also stop the music (like two seconds after I call it out) and whoever doesn’t have a partner is out (so 2 get out at a time- sometimes 4). This was a blast!
Here they are learning the steps.
We had carnitas and salad for lunch.
Then we played a game where the girls put shower caps on their heads with shaving cream on them. We had three teams. The members of the team chuck cheeseballs (or cheetos) at their heads for 30 seconds. The winner is the team that got the most to stick!!

Here we are singing Happy Birthday to Julie!
Then she blows out the candles. We also had a rely race, but I didn’t get any pictures. Again three teams — the girls had to pass and orange from team member to team member holding it under their chins, everything else they did they needed to be all be holding hands as they ran from thing to thing. They had to run to a stop sign down the street, come back and find two mismatched spoons in my silverware drawer, then blow up 10 balloons, then run back out to touch a street sign down the street, then back to get 3 pieces of toilet paper each. They were all exhausted be the end of that one!!!
We had a great day. Lots of fun and I’m sure all the girls will sleep well tonight!!

What fun games. I have never heard of any of them but they sound so fun. Will have to try and remember them for future use. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JULIE!
What a fun party! I’ve done the cheeto game before (don’t know if you saw my blog from the camp we went to last summer!) and I was the one they had to throw the cheeto balls at! But I didn’t have a shower cap on, My hair was insanely filled with shaving cream. Took a few days before it felt normal again!
Hard to believe your girls are so big now!blessings on your weekend, Abby~
