  • ***EDIT***

This whole driving thing reminded me of a comment Elizabeth made when she was very little about driving.

    Norm
Wakefield was the pastor of our church.  His daughter, Abby, had her
license (don’t worry Abby – not going to tell any horror stories!).  I’m not sure how old Abby was either, but she must have been younger than 18.

So out of the blue one day Elizabeth asked me if Abby has any children.

And I’m like, “no…. Abby isn’t married yet.  Why do you think that?”

    And she replied quizically,
“I thought you had to be a mommy to drive.”

    teehee

It cracks me up the “reality” kids figure out on their own –
Life through the eyes of a child.

    *End Edit*

    She did it —

Elizabeth passed her driving test yesterday.

Here she is right after the test.
That man in the background is the one who tested her.

    off she went to
    work….

  • Congratulations! :goodjob: Now you, Mom, can get a break from driving everyone, everywhere!  But when my three were driving and working at Six Flags, late at night, that’s when I had my first panic attack!  Ya learn to deal with it all and trust God….and wear your knees out!  :heartbeat:

  • Congrates to Elizabeth!  That is an exciting time for her, probably mixed emotions for you.  My kids are still too little for me to think about them driving.  Enjoy.

  • Yay Izzy!!!!    its funny how you took pictures of her as the went down the street all by herself!  lol.   :rotfl:

  • Ha! That’s great, Di. Thanks for sharing. Most kids here I know (homeschooled) don’t have their license til they are 18 and their parents are all worried about them driving on the roads and I’ve had a few ask me…”When did your parents “let you” get your license?” I have to tell them, they gladly let me and it was on my 16th birthday and I drove on California roads and freeways! I don’t think they know what to think!
Congrats to Elizabeth! And wow, I can’t believe she is all grown up! Driving, but not a mommy yet.

  • Haha, that’s great. :goodjob: It will be so nice for you when she can drive other siblings around. I have ten more days…

  • wow- congrats to her! I remember the day I took mine out there! a big day! :)

  • Congratulations to your daughter, and wow…I understand you post about your cancer memory…

  • Cute story!  Congratulations to Elizabeth!  I remember when driving used to be fun!

  • What about the boys? Do they have to be daddies?  (Hope not.)

My son has had his permit since last Sept, and he might have all of 17 hours on it, usually driving for his elderly father.  He says driving is boring, and he would rather be reading while I drive.  Sigh.  Someday an incentive will come up, and he’ll decide he wants to actually practice.  I just hope he remembers that he will still have to do an enormous amount of winter driving for me before I let him take his test.

  • Good for her!  That’s a big milestone!!!  Ain’t it hard watching them drive off for the first time??
