Yow! I smashed my finger in the door yesterday
– actually 3 of them, but one of them really bad. It’s the
middle finger on my left hand — I don’t think I’ve ever had a bruise
on the palm side of my finger. I caught it right at the top bend
and right below my nail! Yow! It’s really swollen and
bruised this morning, but doesn’t really hurt too much unless I bend
it. So surprisingly, it doesn’t hurt any more than not using it
when I type (meaning, it hurts all the time – dull ache, but not like I
need to take some Tylenol or something). I play piano for worship
tomorrow night. I’m gonna have to see if that will be
possible! Luckily it is my left hand and not my right.This week has been beautiful here… which is not usually the case – we
usually have June Gloom every day – which is overcast/foggy every day
until like noon. Today we are going to the beach and wouldn’t you
know it? June Gloom — and on the first day of July to boot! I
hope it clears or we will freeze and still burn! That stinks!This is a boring post — all I seem to be doing is whining! So now I
will say something edifying. I am so thankful to God for my
children. And I don’t say that lightly. I love my
relationship with each of them. They are a blessing! It is
so neat to seem my children growing in the Lord daily — fun to be with
the older two as we can sit down and talk as “friends” at times now
that they are maturing. So much fun to be with the littler two as
they are still all caught up in the beauty of childhood. I
do miss their littleness at times – I mean, how could you not.
But, the seasons they are in now is just so much fun. I’ve always
heard that little girls are easier than little boys when they are
little, but when they get to their teens, then that switches.
Since I don’t have boys, I can’t really comment on that, but for me,
I’d have to say so far, that has been a wives tale. Sure, they
are a bit more moody and relational, but so am I, so I’m not sure where
that thought came up… probably from the world, but I don’t find it
any more difficult having a teen girl, than I did when she was 6 –
probably easier now that she is in relationship with the Lord and
understands and embraces the biblical principles we have tried to
instill in her over the years that makes it much easier. Oh well
– I babble — but I babble in thanksgiving to our GOD and the blessings in my life!Have a good weekend.

Ugh…I did the smashed appendage in the door last year…with my little toe. It was BLACK! And why is it that when you do something like that, it becomes a magnet to future bumps & scrapes?!?!? Once I smashed that toe, it seemed like I ran into every object in my path with that foot!
Wish I could help you on the boys vs girls being easier to raise. I have only boys and they were a dream. The thing I like about boys is, if they argue, they just punch each other and then the fight is over! LOL!

I have 2 girls myself, 7 & 4, I really dread the teen years. Only because I won’t have little girls anymore.
They grow so fast. I look at my girls now and I’m just amazed at the conversations that they have. At least they still cuddle up for books!
I remember the June Gloom when visiting relatives out there and trying to go to Huntington Beach for the day. Phooey! We still had fun playing in the sand and getting our feet wet. We may head to our beach and play in Lake Michigan this weekend. Can’t surf but can still get wet. :goodjob:

I don’t think it sounded like you were wining.. just voicing your feelings… I think a person is whining when it’s a constant thing. just my opinion though.
RYC: Don’t be too impressed with my yard work today…it’s only 68 degrees here today in PA! I only mentioned 95 degrees in that I don’t think I’d enjoy mowing so much in 95 degrees!

Ouch….hope they heal quickly for you! So nice to hear you have a great relationship with your kids! My oldest just turned 13 and so far, he does not mind still doing things with ‘mom’…lol……I hope it lasts! Hope you enjoy your wknd!

Yes I am on vacation…but we actually left a bit early in order to be here for a funeral also.
I don’t think you sound whiny. Hope your fingers feel better soon. I have boys and except for the times when they don’t want to talk they were both pretty easy to raise. Of course God’s still working on them but hey He’s working on me too.
OUCH! You certainly have a reason to whine! I hope your fingers heal soon. I feel exactly the same way about my oldest daughter. She is 13 going on 14 and a bit moodier than usual, but still as sweet as ever. We are very close and even finish each other’s sentences…..how cool is that! Have a great holiday! Hugs, Cissy
Don’t worry about “whining”…That’s what Xanga is for…venting one’s feelings. In my own experience, my girl was easier than the boy. He was a real challenge. Thankfully, he turned out just fine.
I believe it’s harder with girls these days. I don’t know how you shop for clothes! The choices are not very attractive. It really is helpful to have the support of other Christians.

I agree with you girlfriend! I feel that at least I can relate to my daughters. If I had boys…I wouldn’t understand at all what they were going through!
